Life Safety Dampers
Products tested and classified in accordance with UL 555, UL 555S, and UL555C.
Life safety dampers protect openings in walls, ceilings, floors and/or partitions to prevent the spread of fire and/or smoke. These products are tested and classified in accordance with UL. There are five types of life safety dampers:
Maintains required fire resistance ratings of walls, partitions, and floors when penetrated by air ducts and transfer openings. (UL 555 classified)
Prevents the spread of smoke in a building. Used in passive smoke control or part of an engineered smoke control system. (UL 555S classified)
Combination Fire Smoke Dampers
Performs the function of a fire damper and a smoke damper. (UL 555 and UL 555S classified)
Corridor Fire Smoke Dampers
Protects corridor/ceiling penetrations against fire and smoke. These dampers meet UL 555 and UL 555S to be classified as a corridor combination fire smoke damper.
