Helpful tips for using the Greenheck eCAPS Bridge for Revit

Q:How do I use the Select by Model button?

A:

The Select by Model button allows you to browse the Greenheck content library for LOD 200 Revit families. Type in the model name to locate the product. Clicking the Insert button allows you to select the specific size you wish to load into your project. The Download button lets you specify a location on your hard drive to save the family and type catalog, which contains the various available sizes.

Q:How do I use the Select by Performance button?

A:

The Select by Performance button allows you to access eCAPS and make a performance-based product selection. Once you select a recommended product and size, clicking the Insert button loads the LOD 300 family directly into your open Revit project.

Q:With which versions of Revit is this add-in compatible?
A:
A:Version 2.5 of the addin is compatible with Revit 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Q:
Q:Do I need to make an account and/or log in to use the add-in?
A:
A:Version 2.2 and higher of the addin uses your Greenheck credentials. Users without a Greenheck account can sign up for one here.

Q:Why do I not see the Makeup Air tab on the selection screen?
A:
A:Currently, the Revit content on the eCAPS platform is being transitioned to the Level of Development 300 (LOD). Some tabs are hidden because that Revit content has not yet been transitioned to LOD 300. However, some generic content from eCAPS is available in a normal browser setting. This generic content will be contained in a Revit project, from which users can copy and paste individual models into their own project files.

Q:Do I need internet access to use the add-in?

A:Yes, an internet connection is required.

Q:What is the difference between LOD 200 and 300? When do I use one or the other?
A:
A:Our LOD 200 Revit families typically are intended for schematic design. The family has dimensional parameters only. Our LOD 300 Revit families are intended for design development. The family will contain performance data for your specific selection, as shared parameters.

Q:How do I use the ‘eCAPS Jobs’ Button?
A:
A:Once a user creates an eCAPS job, they are able to access their saved jobs via the addin. Users have the option to either download or Insert their LOD 300 selections, from their eCAPS job into their active Revit project.

Q:Can I edit eCAPS Jobs via the addin?
A:
A:Currently, users are not able to edit eCAPS jobs directly through the addin. Users are only able to retrieve selections made from jobs created via eCAPS on a web browser.

Q:How do I use the reselect button?
A:
A:The Reselect button is activated when a user selects a reselectable Greenheck LOD 300 family in the active Revit project. Once initiated, users can rename original selection to avoid unwanted overrides in Revit. The initial selection data is automatically extracted from the Revit family to populate performance input values on the select by model screen. From here, users can make the necessary changes and re-insert their updated selection.

Q:Is reselection available for all Greenheck LOD 300 Revit families?
A:
A:Reselection is applicable for most LOD 300 Revit families selected with version 2.0 or higher, of the addin. Additional categories are continuously being added to the reselectable content.

Q:How do I use the ‘Schedule’ button?
A:
A:Inserting an LOD300 Fan, HVLS, Gravity, Louver, Preconditioner or Outdoor air product will activate this button, allowing you to create a Schedule for any of those product types based off the eCAPS schedule template and parameters.

Q:How do I use the parameter management buttons?
A:
A:The parameter management buttons allow you to add user parameters, map them to Greenheck parameters and transfer data from them to user parameters. Find more help here: Instructions: Parameter Management
