Air terminal units (ATU) are zone-level air distribution devices that regulate airflow for maximum occupant comfort. The ATU controls the zone space temperature to maintain a desired occupied space temperature. In variable air volume (VAV) systems, the flow of air is supplied by a single air handling unit. ATUs are available with pneumatic, electric, analog, or digital controls. Low noise levels and available space are important considerations when selecting these units.
