Manufacturing Engineering Co-op Position
General Responsibilities
Support the Manufacturing Quality Engineer in his efforts to
assure product quality. Assist in development and implementation
of procedures and systems needed to establish and maintain our
quality standards. Provide corrective action to resolve problems.
Complete projects as assigned.
67% daily support
33% projects
Co-op terms run from either January to September or from May
to January.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Problem Resolution
- Participate in shop floor problem resolution process.
- Identify and resolve quality deficiencies.
- Initiate drawing and engineering changes.
- Coordinate Engineering, Purchasing, Tooling, Maintenance,
etc. involvement as needed.
Supplier Relations
- Involvement in selection and specification of raw materials.
- Inspect non-conforming materials and provide feedback to suppliers
with respect to product quality.
- Participate in establishing and improving supplier relations
and partnerships.
Process Controls
- Initiate process and tooling changes that result in higher
quality and productivity as well as lower costs.
- Establish and implement standards and tolerances on critical
parts and processes.
Projects
- Based upon background and areas of interest, we try to select
a good match. Past projects have included:
- Participation in development of corporate quality manual.
- Documentation of the set up and operation of some of our critical
equipment and processes.
- Participation in the introduction of new products and product
redesigns.
- Implementation of cost reduction/value engineering projects.
- Design and fabrication of new fixtures and tooling.
